He was an active member of CICD and the Moorabbin Peace Action Committee at the time, and printed much of the movement literature at his workplace, Herald Gravure Printers. Throughout his time as an employee of the Herald and Weekly Times, he lobbyed the management on their editorial policy over many issues including the Vietnam war. Since the early 1970s he has photographed events held by progressive organisations such as CICD, MAUM, Vietnam Moratorium Committee etc. and has a collection of over 20,000 images.
